The penal court, presided over by Judge Mohsen Alwan, issued death penalties against ten al-Houthi suspects, as well as 15-year prison terms for the other 5 suspects of the third cell in the Bani Hushaish area.
The suspects were charged with armed rebellion, disobedience and violating law and order. The groups said that they rebelled against the authorities, departed from public consensus, killed security individuals and those who stand in the face of executing their scheme.
The group attacked and killed a number of soldiers and citizens in Bani Hushaish area, including women and children. Among the suspects who received capital punishment sentences are Mohammed Ahmed Ali al-Sheikh al-Aghrabi, Ahmed Mohammed Yahia al-Muzaiji, Abdullah Mohammed Ali al-Aobali, Ahmed Hussein al-Kibsi, Mudhish Mohammed Hussein Kirshan, Hussein Abdullah Nasser Saleh, Khalid Nasser Mohammed Nasser, Maher Ahmed Mohammed Hamoud Hussein, and Abdullah Ahmed Mohammed Hamoud al-Kibsi.
The court gave 15-year prison terms to the following:
Lutf Mohammed Hussein, Yaqob Mohsen Abdo Mohsen, Radfan Abdulhamid Mohammed, Lutf Mohammed Ali Saleh and Ahmed Abdullah Ismail al-Kibsi.
Lawyer Yahia Hussein al- Hamdani appealed the ruling against Mudhish Mohammed Kirshan who received a death sentence and Lutf Mohammed Saleh who received the 15 year prison term.
More than 150 people who joined the so called “subversive gang” in Bani Hushaish are being tried for armed confrontations with the government.
