YEMEN - No soldiers were killed in the clashes that erupt yesterday between military personnel and elements from al-Qaeda who attacked a military vehicle in the area of Al Sahbwan in Mareb province, said Naji al-Zaidi, governor of Mareb.

Al-Zaidi denied what some media outlets reported on Friday about the death of three solders in clashes with al-Qaeda saying that three soldiers were wounded and no one died. He refused to confirm the death of Aidh al-Shwabani who is accused by the authorities of being a member in al-Qaeda.

"There are some losses that are not specified yet but the hunt for the wanted will continue and we cannot reveal any information until the operation is over.

Security sources in Mareb said a security campaign from anti-terrorism forces is still surrounding the area where the wanted individuals are stationed.

Some mews sources reported today that three soldiers were killed in confrontations with al-Qaeda armed elements and that al-Shwabani was killed in the clashes and four more soldiers were wounded.

The confrontations erupted yesterday in Mareb when al-Qaeda armed elements ambushed and attacked a military vehicle.
